Less than a year after the “war to end all wars”, a group of Siloam Springs Veterans met to organize and to petition The American Legion, Federation of Arkansas, for membership. Their petition was was presented to the Arkansas Federation Headquarters in Little Rock on July 26, 1919. The Charter for Siloam Post 29 was approved July 31, 1919.
The American Legion is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization with great political influence perpetuated by its grass-roots involvement in the legislation process from local districts to Capitol Hill. Legionnaires’ sense of obligation to community, state and nation drives an honest advocacy for veterans in Washington. The Legion stands behind the issues most important to the nation's veterans community, backed by resolutions passed by volunteer leadership.
The American Legion’s success depends entirely on active membership, participation and volunteerism. The organization belongs to the people it serves and the communities in which it thrives.
Since our charter in 1919, our American Legion Post has been welcoming VETERANS from all branches of our Armed Forces. Today, we continue to welcome all military personnel serving our country. Joining our Post enables you to continue serving your God, Country and Community. Our mission is to implement the goals, aspirations, dreams, peace and blessings for our country, friends and families embodied in our preamble below.
Jerry Cavness is the 2022-2023 Commander of Siloam Post 29
